Getting down to business

I take this shot at every game. This is the practice venue. The "real shot" is in a few days when we get to access  the competition main court

There's no point trying to figure out what day it is. It's irrelevant. At home it's Monday. Wednesday or "the week end". Here it's day 2 or 3 or game day, opening ceremonies day, track or road day, etc

Yesterday we had over 120 Canadian team members checking in to the Village. Basically they filled most of the direct flight from Toronto on Air Canada, a Canadian Paralympic Team sponsor, so they celebrated them on the flight. It was busier around our main area as so many team Canada members who were just off the plane, tired, not oriented and wondering "what do we do now?" looked a little chaotic. Then, with such great organization from the staff we have here to help and sort them, it all settled and the evening was relatively quiet.
Many are asking me "how many days have you been here?". I have to think about it. Feels like 2 weeks but including one night sleeping in a plane, one night at our out-of-village building (the Performance Centre or PC) and last knighting only my 2nd night sleeping in the Village...it has been 3!

As more athletes comes in there are more kits to distribute. Every member gets their full clothing package in a nice suitcase. They have to be taken out of boxes in the basement (parking lot) storage and trolleyed in small elevators to a main room. Later they are spread to each person's bed. Since it is around 11:15 at night....why not race the trolleys! A new sport discipline!

I'm winning of course

Contact is allowed: skateboard meets luge meets roller derby

tight elevators

one load done

It is starting to feel a little more like the usual pacing now. This morning I poured a coffee down my throat, went to the gym at 7, saw a few athletes in the clinic, walked to the practice courts to attend the men's goalball practice, back to the Village on a transport bus, got on another to the velodrome and hung our at the cycling track with the cycling team training. I am always impressed by the power of the track. I was itching to get on the boards myself but I don't think it would have been appreciated. After a few hours there, back at the Village, quick lunch and am now at the clinic again. I'll be walking over to the basketball practice for 6:30 until 8 then we have our medical team meeting.

Goalball from behind the net

I hope he stops that or it's coming right at me

They are all visually impaired and made fully blind with dark goggles. Everything thing is done by audition and hand feel

I have a few pictures of goalball. On another post I will explain this event as I am positive most of you have no clue what the sport is al about.
